My name is Julian and I’m a Cardiff based Photographer and Glaciology PhD student. As part of the Cryospheric and Hydrological Instrumentation Laboratory at Cardiff University, I am developing new wireless instrumentation for navigating and exploring glacier moulins, englacial and subglacial hydrology. My background is in Construction Engineering Management with an undergraduate degree from Loughborough University where I also went on to complete an masters degree in Environmental Research, Monitoring and Management.
Additionally, I am a professional events, sport and documentary photographer. I began by shooting night clubs in Loughborough, but have since shot a range of sports, indoor and outdoor music events and even a wedding. I hope to use my passion for visual and literary media to explore a range of topics, from history, to fieldwork, to hitchhiking, in an effort share hidden stories.
You may occasionally see me lifting or throwing heavy things too! I will be updating this page with photo essays, blog posts and my portfolio. Feel free to contact me for any enquiries, science or photography related!
